About the Safety, Health and Environmental Manager

We are currently recruiting for a Safety, Health and Environmental Manager at the Lichfield site. The role is Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week; however, you will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the business.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To work with the SGM and Department Managers/Supervisors to deliver an effective improvement plan for safety on site. Implement UK best practice.
  • To play an active and leading role within the H&S committees. Create a culture where individual managers.
  • To take responsibility for safety within their department. Lead the safety agenda and actively coach continuous improvements in performance.
  • Develop, implement and train out policies and procedures ensuring the arrangements are best practice and practicable. Monitor adherence.
  • To act as a key contact with regulatory bodies, fire officers and insurance company as required
  • To carry out site inspections and audits to monitor and review compliance with site safety policies. Report back to the site management teams to agree action plans to resolve issues.
  • Ensure investigations of all incidents are carried out and that the root cause is identified and acted upon.
  • To provide regular professional advice to site management teams to ensure the business complies with the latest legislation and best practice.
  • To assist in the identification of training needs for the business and employees in order develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of safety training.
  • To become involved in all capital projects involving new processes and equipment. Provide professional advice during the sourcing and commissioning of new equipment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualifications and experience e.g. NEBOSH, SMSTS , IOSH Membership
  • Working knowledge and understanding of OHSAS 18001
  • Good communication and IT skills.
  • Be accurate and have attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and lead by example.
